Sesotho is spoken across the Free State and Lesotho. Its poetic register, lithoko, is among the most developed oral literatures in Southern Africa.
Basotho blankets, the Maloti mountains and famo music all live inside Sesotho, alongside a strong tradition of proverbs (maele).
